City of Hattiesburg Unveils Recycling Program Hattiesburg-The City of Hattiesburg and Waste Pro have teamed up to preserve the environment via a new recycling program. Beginning January 2, 2012, Waste Pro will offer recycling services to all residential customers within the City free of charge. Residents are being asked to place their recently distributed, blue bins curbside by 7 a.m., on the designated pick-up days. Drop off points for recyclables are located at Kamper and Tatum Parks. The scheduled pick-up days are as follow: Accepted items include: office paper (non-confidential), newspapers, magazines, envelopes, cardboards, books, junk mail, file folders, aluminum cans (rinsed), tin cans (rinsed), plastic bottles (rinsed) and milk jugs (rinsed). Unacceptable items include: plastic grocery bags, styrofoam, glass, wood, plastic toys, medical supplies, rubber, electronics, paint cans and containers with food residue. “With landfills across the country reaching maximum capacity, recycling is a great, alternate solution,” said Waste Pro Division Manager Reggie Collier. “We can’t wait to get started and we hope the community is just as excited for the opportunity to invest in our children’s future.” For more information, please call 264.7888 Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or visit www.wasteprousa.com. ![]()
